PROJECT OVERVIEW
Play Today is a golf company that is revolutionizing social and competitive golf through the integration of blockchain technology into its signature digital scoring app, providing golfers with unparalleled and innovative experiences.
Along with features such as digital scoring for competitions, live leaderboards, and GPS functionality, the app includes a reward or gamification system called Player's Badges.
As a primary designer for this project, my primary task was to create these badges, which players can earn by achieving specific milestones, such as scoring a birdie or an eagle.
Design Process
To begin the project, I first researched the client's vision and brand guidelines to gain a thorough understanding of their style and preferences. I also studied the golf industry and its iconography to ensure that the badges were both recognizable and unique. My goal was to create badges that were visually appealing and engaging for golfers to collect and display on their profiles within the app. I began by researching badge designs in other apps and games to get a sense of what works and what doesn't. From there, I created a few initial badge designs. I went through a total of 3 rounds of design iterations before settling for the final design. In each iteration, I improved my colour schemes and visual styles to better match the branding.

To ensure that the badges would be easy to use within the Play Today app, I created the badges in various sizes and formats, including PNG and SVG files. I also created a style guide that outlined how to use the badges and their different variations. Throughout the process, I maintained open communication with the client to ensure that the badges met their expectations and were aligned with their overall goals for the Play Today app.
Final Result
The end result was a set of visually appealing and unique badges that added an element of fun and engagement to the app, while also reinforcing the Play Today brand.
*Apart from creating these badges, I also worked on some high-fidelity screen mockups of the Play Today app User Interface. This screen shows how the badges are displayed on the mobile app.
Reflection
I'm really proud of the work I did on the Play Today badge design project. One of the biggest challenges was finding the right balance between creating badges that were unique and eye-catching, while also maintaining a consistent look and feel across all the designs. I worked closely with the Play Today team to ensure that each badge represented a different golfing achievement or milestone in a way that was meaningful and intuitive for users. Overall, I'm really happy with how the badges turned out. I think they add a fun and interactive element to the app that golfers will enjoy, and I'm excited to see how users respond to them. The project was a great opportunity for me to enhance my design skills and work collaboratively with a team to create something that has a real impact on the user experience.
