Prior to Build Buddy's software launch, I actively contributed to the end-to-end product development, leveraging agile methodologies. Collaborating closely with a Creative Director, I delivered sketches, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts to business stakeholders and developers. Post-launch, I was in charge of designing new features and addressing issues within the app, ensuring its ongoing enhancement and optimal performance.
The Build Buddy project aimed to address the existing challenges within the home building industry by introducing an all-in-one platform that connects homeowners with contractors and trades. The problem statement for the Build Buddy project revolves around the building industry's struggle with disparate communication channels and the subsequent hindrance to efficient collaboration, emphasizing the necessity for an integrated platform to enhance communication, streamline processes, and ultimately improve the overall home building experience.
The Strategy : Agile Methodology
I joined in the project during the early stages of product development before the initial launch. As this was a big scale project, we decided to divide the project into Sprints. Each sprint contain specific parts of the Build Buddy platform features.
During each Sprint, we had to constantly iterate and refine design concepts prior to handover to the development team. We mainly communicate complex design concepts through low-fidelity sketches and wireframes. Afterwards, we design and refine the high-fidelity screens.
The Journey
The journey involved constant problem-solving through various design stages, and refinement of high-fidelity prototypes before launching new app features. This approach was essential to the project's success and its ongoing impact on the home building industry.
With the successful launch of the Build Buddy app on IOS and Android, my responsibilities extended to post-launch activities. I took charge of designing new features and addressing issues identified through product and user testing, ensuring continuous improvement and optimal performance.

Differentiating Build Buddy and Build Buddy Pro
In line with the overarching goals of the Build Buddy project, the user interface and user experience design for Build Buddy and Build Buddy Pro were meticulously crafted to cater to distinct user groups while maintaining a cohesive brand identity. Much like the differentiation between Airbnb and Uber, Build Buddy targets both homeowners and contractors or tradespeople, each with unique needs and expectations. The design process involved thorough analysis of user requirements and industry challenges, with a focus on enhancing communication, streamlining processes, and ultimately improving the home building experience.

The Challenges
As the project progressed through iterative sprints, the design team faced the challenge of balancing functionality and simplicity, ensuring that both versions of the Build Buddy platform offered intuitive navigation and seamless interaction. Since its launch in the marketplace, Build Buddy has seen numerous enhancements and the introduction of new features. Continuous refinement lies ahead as the team remains observant in addressing any user experience issues uncovered through testing and feedback from customers.
